all has been a whir. somewhere in this last year, i've published enough articles, collected lots of data and have gotten a good draft of my dissertation. i've seen lots of patients and have done my best. many, i can proudly say, are doing very well, thriving after really horrible, traumatic stuff. a handful are still spiraling downwards in dysfunction; but i did what i could.
i can dust off my hands and say: a good day's work is done.
and, my internship applications are all submitted ! since saturday. whew.
in a strange way, i'm actually thinking about moving out of nebraska. and going on to that next step. i had gotten so used to being here. i feel like a chilean miner: i've been stuck in a hole for a while. and now i'm being lifted back to normal life again, not sure whether my eyes will adjust to the daylight.
do people work so long that they forget the end goal? such is grad school.
no wonder people remember their grad school years so fondly. what an adventure. a very focused, hermetic adventure.
i wonder what happens next.

i'm only a little further ahead of you (in some respects, in others you're ahead of me;) and i can surely say i have no idea what to expect next.
i'm anxious to hear about how things work out with internship...any chance you're heading back to CA. a girl can dream, right? ;) miss you friend. i will fondly remember our first year together as grad students, back when we were naive and fully aware of our goals ;) i believe they are still there, just buried down a little deeper.
oh, and the surprise 25th birthday you organized for me w/ Jim. one of my fondest grad school memories.
Good to have you back. Missed you, and your writing!
